For those who plan to view the show from the water, “The Coast Guard and partner agencies will be enforcing a No Entry Zone for boaters off of Jones Beach State Park during the air show to ensure the safety and security of the event. The No Entry Zone will be marked with orange colored buoys.” If there is an emergency on the water, the Coast Guard can be reached on VHF channel 16 or dial 911.  For safe boating information visit: www.uscgboating.org

Known to many as the Greatest Show on Long Island, the Bethpage Air Show was canceled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Show organizers instead held the first Bethpage Virtual Air Show which enabled fans to experience performances straight from the pilots’ cockpits.

U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Headline the 2019 Bethpage Jones Beach Air Show

The US Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 2019 Bethpage Jones Beach Air Show. The 16th annual air show – which officially kicks off summer for the Long Island region with thrilling flourish  – also features United States Army Golden Knights – Sean D. Tucker – Team Oracle – John Klatt Airshows – “Screamin Sasquatch”  – Matt Chapman – Embry Riddle  – GEICO Skytypers  – American Air Power Museum Warbirds – SUNY Farmingdale Aviation – 106th Rescue Wing. As always, the brilliant announcer is Rob Reider  and the Airboss choreographing the complicated air space is Wayne Boggs.

The event takes place Saturday, May 25 and Sunday May 26, 10 am to 3 pm.

Admission is free, but there is a $10 per car parking fee paid at the parking lot.

Get there early. In the past, this show has seen 200,000 people fill up the beach on a single day. When the parking lots fill, the parkways are closed and people are turned away.

Bring SUNSCREEN, HATS, WATER

BAGS, BACKPACKS, AND COOLERS ARE OK but they will be searched. There is a fast-food style restaurant on the East end of the beach, and refreshment vendors along the boardwalk. If you want to keep costs low, you may want to bring along your own drinks and snacks. There will be no bleachers or seating of any sort (with the exception of the VIP Chalets that require a separate entry fee purchased before the show), so bring a blanket to sit on, or foldable chair. If you plan on sitting close to the water, you might want to bring a jacket or long-sleeved shirt. Even though the air temperature may be warm, it can be surprisingly chilly by the water.
