In addition to the Expo, an extensive series of seminars conducted by industry experts will illustrate how this technology can be applied to new and existing business applications.

“VR and AR technologies are quickly filtering into new business applications and consumer activities such as video games and real estate,” said Mike Gangel, show director for NYVR Expo. “Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with these new technologies, take a closer look at emerging technologies, and learn how they can apply these innovations into their businesses and lifestyles.”

NYVR will also include the latest technologies from a variety of international brands such as Facebook 360, Blend Media, VIU.Space, Vuze Camera (Human Eyes Technology), Ricoh Theta, and Kodak PIX Pro, to name a few. NYC Media Lab Incubator Zone

To encourage the continued growth of the industry, the NYC Media Lab will host the “NYC Media Lab Incubator Zone,” which will feature the newest startups and technologies from the brightest minds in the VR/AR industry today.  In June, the City announced plans to develop and operate a hub for virtual reality and augmented reality. Fueled by a $6 million investment by NYCEDC and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), the new hub will leverage the leadership of NYC Media Lab and its founding university partners, NYU and Columbia University, and include partnerships with CUNY and other New York City universities, civic organizations and corporate partners. Administered by NYU Tandon School of Engineering, the lab will support startups, talent development, and research and innovation.

The lab will serve as an anchor for New York City’s emerging VR/AR sector and is expected to create over 500 good jobs over the next ten years, as part of Mayor de Blasio’s New York Works plan to create 100,000 good jobs.

Glimpse Group “Start Up” Pitch Competition, Friday, October 27: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Emerging companies in VR/AR technology will have an opportunity to present their products and software to industry leaders in this new business-pitch competition, which will take place right on the Expo floor. General attendees will also have a chance to see and experience the latest innovations and get a glimpse of the future during this special event taking place on Friday, October 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The competition is presented by The Glimpse Group, a company created to cultivate entrepreneurs in the AR/VR industry and will be moderated by McCarter & English, one of the largest, oldest, and most respected law firms in the U.S.

As part of the overall NYVR conference + Expo, educational seminars will be conducted by leading innovators and manufactures throughout the two-day event. Seminars for business professionals and consumers will cover a wide range of topics, including the best practices for producing 360 content, an introduction to 3D audio, an overview of ARKit & ARCore, and the future of VR filmmaking.

Anyone interested in seeing the latest in VR/AR technology and how to apply this emerging technology to their business or lifestyle, can register at NYVRExpo.com.
