Last Chance for the Best Deal in Skiing and Riding; Epic Pass Prices Reduced 20 Percent, Increase Coming Labor Day

As the winter season draws near, so does the last chance for skiers and riders to get the lowest price on the entire suite of 2021/22 Epic Pass products, which saw a major price reduction of 20 percent this year. Labor Day is the last day to get an Epic Pass, Epic Day Pass or any pass option at the lowest price this year – unlocking access to resorts across the Northeast, Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest, including Whistler Blackcomb, which is now open to fully vaccinated Americans.

Skiers and riders can get the best ski and snowboard pass deal by purchasing a pass before prices go up after September 6. Some of the most popular pass offerings include:

·         Epic Pass ($783 vs. $979 last season) provides unlimited, unrestricted access to 34 North American resorts – including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Park City and Whistler Blackcomb – as well as access to many partner resorts, including Telluride, Snowbasin and Sun Valley.

·         Epic Local Pass ($583 vs. $729 last season) provides unlimited, unrestricted access to 26 resorts – including Breckenridge and Keystone – from the East to the West coast, as well as holiday-restricted access to resorts like Park City, Heavenly and Stowe, and 10 days total to use at Vail, Beaver Creek and Whistler Blackcomb.

·         Northeast Value Pass ($479 vs. $599 last season) provides access to 18 resorts across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, including Stowe, Okemo, Hunter Mountain, Mt. Snow and Liberty.

·         Epic Day Pass is the best option for anyone who plans to hit the slopes only one to seven days next season. With Epic Day Pass, guests can visit premier resorts like Vail, Beaver Creek and Whistler Blackcomb for as low as $87 for one day, with discounts increasing as more days are purchased, and – a new option this year – resorts like Keystone, Heavenly and Stowe for as low as $67 for one day.

In addition to reducing the cost of accessing the mountains, Epic Pass products provide significant savings on the rest of the mountain experience. Epic Mountain Rewards offers pass holders the best ski trip deals, including 20 percent off on-mountain dining, lodging, group ski and ride school lessons, equipment rentals and more at Vail Resorts’ 34 North American owned and operated resorts. All passes also include the Epic Coverage refund policy at no additional cost, providing refunds for certain resort closures and personal events such as job loss, injury or illness.

Coast-to-Coast Experiences

·         East: Skiers and riders in cities across the East have access to an unbeatable network of resorts throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. Those looking to sample the charm and tradition of New England skiing can use the Northeast Value Pass to visit seven iconic resort destinations in Vermont and New Hampshire – all within driving distance of one another – plus many more. Planning a trip out West? The Epic Local Pass gives access to ski or ride close to home and at world-class destinations out West all on one pass. Additionally, Okemo is undergoing a transformational upgrade, including two major lift upgrades that will make getting on and around the mountain faster and easier. Capital improvements to lifts, snowmaking, lodges and terrain are also underway at Attitash and Wildcat that will improve the experience for all guests.

·         Rockies: The North American ski season is set to kick off at Keystone in October. Summit County’s largest resorts provide skiers and riders an endless winter of fun and one of the longest ski seasons in North America, with Keystone opening as early as possible in October and Breckenridge closing the season in May. Vail Mountain’s industry-leading snowmaking enhancement project is prepared to deliver the Biggest Opening in Colorado. Guests can look forward to exploring new terrain for the whole family with Beaver Creek’s 250-acre terrain expansion – McCoy Park – and can ski and ride to new heights with new chairlifts at Breckenridge, Crested Butte and Keystone. Or, head to Utah to explore the endless terrain and stunning mountain vistas at Park City Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States.

·         Pacific Northwest: Whistler Blackcomb continues to offer more terrain choices than nearly any other mountain destination in the world. With a combination of thrilling descents, exquisite scenery and a mountain town like no other, there’s something for everyone at the largest resort in North America. Book an Extremely Canadian Steeps Clinic, finally make heli-ski dreams a reality or book a private lesson with an Olympian. For guests looking to explore the area and make full use of their Epic Pass perks, Stevens Pass is only five hours away. Known for its deep powder, rolling groomed runs to steep slopes, surrounded by trees and nestled into the mountains, Stevens Pass is a picture-perfect ski area for families and seasoned skiers alike.

Last week the mountain saw 25 inches fall between Wednesday and Sunday (March 7 – 11). Skiers and riders were ecstatic to see over two feet of snow fall in a few short days.

But there was plenty more still to come as it started snowing again at the mountain on Tuesday morning, March 13. Since then snow has been falling pretty much non-stop for four days. As of 3:30pm on Friday, March 16, the four day storm total stands at over four feet of snow, (49 Inches) and it is still snowing.

The resort has all 71 trails and six lifts open. Powder conditions can be found all across the mountain.  2018-19 All Access Season Passes are on sale now and skiers and riders can ski for the rest of this season for free when they purchase a pass for next season. Also, skiers can ski for the next five seasons for less than the price of four seasons with the new Five Year Green Pass.

Vermont Ski Resorts Ready for Holidays as December Storm Drops 2 Feet of Snow

December 14, 2017

Just in time for the holiday season, Mother Nature has gifted Vermont’s slopes with up to two feet of snow this week. This abundant early season snowfall allows for expanding open terrain at resorts and has enticed above average amounts of mid-week visitors. With resorts dropping ropes and making snow, and most of the remaining Vermont ski and snowboard areas planning to open this weekend, Vermont’s open terrain will double over the next week and could be close to 100% open over the holiday.

Mount Snow Resort held their annual Founders Day Celebration on Tuesday, December 12 with crowds that rivaled a busy Saturday afternoon. “In what has become a Mount Snow Founders Day tradition, we once again saw a 10”+ powder day correspond with our $12 lift tickets. This meant that our guests paid roughly $1 per inch of powder on Tuesday. Not a bad deal!” said Jamie Storrs, Communications Manager at Mount Snow.

Further north, Burke Mountain saw a 60% increase in open terrain from Tuesday to Wednesday thanks to 15 inches of snow overnight. Nearby at Jay Peak Resort, reservations jumped 30% as the storm rolled in with visitors booking for this coming weekend as well as the holiday period. Similarly, in Southern Vermont, 18 inches of fresh snow at Stratton Mountain Resort resulted in an increase in mid-week and holiday reservations.

Stowe Mountain Resort, now part of Vail Resorts and its Epic Pass, has had an exceptional start to their season with mid-week skiers and snowboarders expanding beyond Vermont residents to guests from states to the south and north of the border. Director of Communications at Stowe Mountain Resort, Jeff Wise, said that the early season snowfall and cooler temperatures have them planning to open 100% of their terrain by Christmas.

At Sugarbush Resort, President and Owner, Win Smith said that thanks to the cooler weather, “we have had terrific snowmaking temperatures and have already blown over two thirds of what we do in a normal year. And now Mother Nature has given us over a foot of snow to add icing to the cake!”

Other Vermont resorts that have relished in Mother Nature’s bounty this week include Bromley Mountain, Smugglers’ Notch Resort and Okemo Mountain Resort. Smugglers’ Notch Resort will have top to bottom skiing and snowboarding on all three of their mountains, Morse, Madonna and Sterling come this weekend. Okemo Mountain Resort expects to double their trail count from last Saturday, December 8th to this Saturday, December 16th and Bromley Mountain began their weeklong operations a day early thanks to the natural snowfall.

Vermont’s cross country centers welcomed over 15 inches of snow to their trails, too. Centers like Trapp Family Lodge and Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center reported winter wonderlands on their properties, with Trapp Family Lodge operating 8 km of trails and Blueberry Hill operating 57.3 km. Kingdom Trail Association and Rikert Nordic Center are 100% open, with many other cross country centers opening more terrain in the coming days with added snowfall.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Vermont resorts like Mad River Glen, Pico Mountain and Middlebury Snowbowl are avidly awaiting opening day on Friday, December 15th and looking forward to opening with more terrain than previously anticipated. General Manager of the Middlebury Snow Bowl, Peter Mackey said thanks to the 14” of snowfall, “we’ll be able to open two trails on just natural snow this weekend that we hadn’t planned on.”

As the snow continues to fall across the Green Mountain State, stay up to date with Vermont’s most recent trail conditions and weather alerts at SkiVermont.com and explore resort information, deals and events via the Ski Vermont Resort Finder.

Airline-Style Variable Pricing Comes to Bromley, Cranmore, Jiminy Peak; Save 30-50% With Advance Purchase

November 16, 2017

Bromley

Bromley Mountain, Vermont, one of the Fairbank Group ski resorts in New England.

HANCOCK, Mass. – As the start of the 2017-18 ski season has begun, the Fairbank Group of New England ski resorts – Bromley Mountain, Cranmore Mountain Resort and Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort – officially launched airline-style variable lift ticket pricing for skiers and riders able to plan ahead and purchase tickets online before they arrive.

Discounts of 30 to 50 percent off the walk-up ticket window price represent the resorts’ largest lift ticket savings ever offered and provide substantial savings in exchange for a non-refundable/non-transferrable advance sale ticket purchased online.

Visitors access the resort website, click the pricing calendar, then select their age group, number of tickets required, and specific days between now and April 2018. After approving the itinerary, they check out and receive email confirmation to present to the ticket window upon arrival. The percentage savings on holidays and weekends are slightly less than midweek rates.

Similar to airfares, lift ticket rates may expire, sell out or be priced higher the closer you get to your visit, and advance tickets are limited, according to Michael Van Eyck, assistant general manager of Bromley Mountain in southern Vermont.

“We want to reward skiers and riders for planning ahead and committing early. Advance sales also provide us with a projection of how busy we will be on any given day,” said Van Eyck, who reminds skiers and riders to check the websites of each resort for specific restrictions.

Sample lift ticket prices reveal substantial savings:

*            At New Hampshire’s Cranmore Mountain Resort, as of today, purchase an adult ticket for New Year’s Day 2018, and the advance purchase price is $49, a $26 savings off the walk-up $75 window rate that day (35 percent discount). The same price is available most midweeks in March unless it sells out early. (cranmore.com)

*            On the Bromley Mountain website, skiers can pre-purchase Dec. 15 lift tickets for $42, a $38 savings (48 percent off) the walk-up rate of $80. Buy Jan. 3 or 4 for $49 per day, and the savings is as high as $31 per ticket, or 39 percent off the $80 same day ticket window rate, assuming it’s still available at the time of purchase. (bromley.com)

*            Plan in advance to ski Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in western Massachusetts during the first week of March and the $43 advance ticket represents a 43 percent savings compared to the walk-up rate of $76, provided the ticket is purchased soon enough and doesn’t sell out, which skiers will know at the time of purchase. (jiminypeak.com)

Famed American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, a native Bostonian, once said, “The future belongs to those who prepare for it.”

In this case, the earlier you plan the more you save.

The Fairbank Group, LLC, based at Jiminy Peak and co-owned by the father-son team of Brian Fairbank and Tyler Fairbank, manages and oversees a group of businesses that include the ski resorts Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, Cranmore Mountain Resort and Bromley Mountain, as well as SnowGun Technologies, EOS Ventures, Bullwheel Productions and other endeavors.
